"The Missing Secret"

Some people are addicted to drugs or gambling, others alcohol or smoking. Me? I am addicted to books and CDs. The latest CD that has put me into a frenzy is The Missing Secret by Dr. Joe Vitale. What a great piece of work. Many know Joe Vitale from his appearance on “The Secret.”

In The Missing Secret, Dr. Vitale gives 5 steps for obtaining whatever you want:

<!       1) Know what you don’t want

<        2) Declare your intention

<!       3) Clear your self-limiting beliefs

<!       4)Neville-ize” your goal

<!       5) Let go

Start by knowing what you don’t want. What do you complain about? Focusing on what you don’t want is fear-based. Knowing what you don’t want identifies for you what you do want. What do you want to be, do, or have?

Now you are ready for Step 2: Declare your intention. Dr. Vitale recommends writing an “Intention Card.” What do you want to be, do, or have? What would be even better than that? On the card write one goal or intention – your most powerful intention. Write it in the present tense. Use the word “choose” in your intention. Always add the words “this or something better” at the end. An example he gave: “My business has increased by 30% or more, this or something better.” Carry the card on you at all times.

Dr. Vitale spent a lot of time on Step 3, clearing our self-limiting beliefs. A belief is what you keep thinking over and over. Your beliefs create your reality. Dr. Vitale says to first become aware of your self-limiting beliefs so you can release them. Most people have an issue with deservingness. How good can you stand it? If you don’t know you can, you can’t. If you don’t know you can’t, you can. The meaning you give an event reveals your belief. Monitor your thoughts.

In Step 4 Dr. Vitale speaks about the teachings of Wayne Neville. He has so much respect for Neville that he named this step after him. To “Neville-ize” your goal means to visualize the end result. What does it feel like to already have it? Have a sense of gratitude. Doing so sends out a signal to receive more to be grateful for. “A thought is powerful only when it is packed by feeling” is a statement made by a gentleman named Townsend in 1920. In step 4, assume the feeling of the wish fulfilled.

In Step 5, Dr. Vitale explains you can have anything you want as long as you don’t want it. In other words, be in a spirit of letting go. You want something, but you are OK if you don’t get it. When you are at peace, happy, and experiencing gratitude now, you can create anything. Want what you want, but with a playful attitude….so that you don’t have a counter energy of need going out. Let go of attachment. What you want is to be happy now. What you want is available right now – be happy now. What you want is not the car, it’s what’s behind the car. Have fun doing it, not needing it. Trust. Everything that is happening is happening for your highest good. It is all good. As Mark Joyner says, “Turn it into something good.” Look for the good in everything that is happening. What you want is peace, bliss, happiness…you can have that now.

Wow, something to ponder on today!
