"Power of Thought"

This weekend I finally got around to reading a book recommended to me at Joey Korn’s recent conference, Power of Thought by Eugene Maurey, published in 1990. What an insightful little book!

As is my custom, I underline key concepts as I read a book so that I can easily go back and re-read the parts that are especially meaningful to me. It occurred to me this morning that if I typed those concepts, not only would I reinforce what I want to remember, but I could also share those highlights with you.

A key point to make before getting started is that Maurey is an engineer, highly trained in the sciences.

Maurey begins by explaining the three parts of the mind: 1) Conscious Mind, 2) Subconscious Mind, and 3) Superconscious Mind. How the system works: “When the conscious self needs information, guidance, or help of any kind, the subconscious is directed to produce the results. When that level of mind is convinced that you mean business, the message is shipped up to the Superconscious which in turn delivers the goods. The path is fixed.”

Maurey explains how visualization works. “The key to effective visualization is putting a great deal of feeling into it. Successful visualization is accomplished as follows:

1)      Believe that you have what you desire now, not in any future time. (If you place in the future what you want, that is where it will remain, in the future.)

2)      Put into your belief strong feelings of love, joy, harmony, prosperity, great satisfaction or other positive emotion associated with the event.

3)      Concentrate on having what you desire.

4)      Don’t ask that your desire be fulfilled, expect it.”

Other key points discussed in the book:

  • “Simply stated, when you have a desire, visualize the feelings that you have when that desire is satisfied.”
  • “Each morning upon arising, sit quietly in a place where you will not be disturbed. Visualize yourself that evening feeling good about all the wonderful things that happened to you that day. See your friends and family being very pleased with your accomplishments. Do not specify what is to happen! After you have done this, forget it and let it happen to you. Forgetting may at first be difficult to do but it is very important in this process. If you planted a seed, would you keep digging it up to see if it is growing?”
  • “Three steps to produce what you need in your life: 1) Think this way: know that it will be forthcoming, say in three days. Then dismiss the thought. The information will come to you.  It may come from a book you happened to pick up, from a chance conversation or from an inspirational thought. 2) The second secret for making your thoughts work for you is belief. You must train your mind t accept the belief that something good will happen to you. 3) The third part of successfully using your mind is the easiest. Be yourself; go about your business in your normal way. Be active, the opportunities will present themselves and you will recognize them.”
  • “Once a person has put into his/her subconscious mind a direction to follow, the Power that is touched will propel him/her there.”
  • “When the thought is released and forgotten, the subconscious goes to work.”
  • “Whatever you give your attention to, this is where you will have your success.”
  • “The Law of Seed Money is to give generously and unselfishly knowing that you will receive all that you need. The trick is to convince your subconscious mind that you can give generously because you are wealthy now. Your subconscious then taps the Source which brings into your awareness the condition of wealth. This process is not to be confused with tithing. A tithe is a tax of 10 percent of one’s income given to maintain religious institution. It is an obligation, not a gift.”
  • “Don’t hang onto an intolerable condition until something better comes along. Create a vacuum in your life. Remove the chains from your life that bind you to a situation that you are fairly convinced will not improve.”
  • “A course called Silva Mind Control…has brought me health, wealth and happiness.”
  • “I am aware that everybody I meet knows subconsciously what I am thinking. A person I meet for the first time instantly picks up my impression of them. Such people rarely know why they react to me as they do. What are my thoughts at that moment? They are always positive about the person. I like him and I am aware that he knows it. Somebody said, ‘To have a friend, be a friend.’”
  • “All disease has a mental cause. Find it and you are healed. “
  • “Our medical establishment, contributed to and controlled by giant pharmaceutical companies, is firmly indoctrinated in using drugs to heal. In this country a medical doctor will lose his license if he deviates too far by substituting natural remedies for chemical ones. All too often, the doctor is looked upon as God, the final answer to one’s physical or mental health. A false idea? Yes, but it will take a revolution in the health community before a positive change can take place.”
  • “As one explanation of the dowsing phenomena, it is conceivable that all information and knowledge is available in the Superconscious Mind. When a dowser asks a question of his dowsing device he is tapping into this Intelligence.”
  • “In summary, your Power of Thought is a continuous process, bringing forth positive or negative results. You are always controlling that thought and directing what happens to you and, to a clear extent, what happens to others. Keeping a clear, positive, mental picture of what you want with a strong belief that it is attainable, will unquestionably result in its materialization.”

  1. Very nice post! Visualizing our desire helps us to be clear on our beliefs for our goals. We need to put together our own Dream Book or Gift Shop and take action on each category we include.
