Pioneers for the Next Generation

Late Friday evening I read Andrea’s comment to my post “An Exciting Time to Be Alive.”  I have been thinking about it all weekend.  First of all, I am stunned at what has happened to her. She lost 80 pounds and is off SIX medications after starting her bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT). That is incredible! And what does she have to do to experience this state of health…travel from North Carolina to southern California to see a physician who is experienced in BHRT! Oh, what women have to go through!!!!!

It is funny how things happen.  Late this week three women called me asking for help in finding someone to help them.  One lady has 2 friends, and all 5 appear to be experiencing symptoms of hormone imbalance. They are in different parts of the country. I was focused on this issue when Andrea’s message arrived.  It made me more determined than ever to push forward to make a difference, collectively.

Last night one of the ladies called to say she thinks she found a doctor in Indianapolis, 3 1/2 hours away.  Of course, the internet adds can say anything.   I am personally aware that some are jumping on this bandwagon because they see the $$ potential…but are not giving sound advice because they are not yet knowledgeable of all that is involved in hormone therapy. This idea came to me…as my blog grows, I could post a list of doctors that are recommended by women – such as the doctor who is helping Andrea.  It would be a start.  I am so new to this whole blogging thing.  Just 3 months ago I didn’t know what a blog was. Now I can see how it can be a vehicle for us to help each other.

Why I say “collectively” in my above comment is that women are sharing their stories to be published in my upcoming book, The Awakened Body, A Woman’s Guide to Feeling Biologically Vibrant…Naturally. I received one lady’s story on Friday, and it just shut me down.  I have known this person through our previous place of employment, and I knew pieces of her story, but not her whole story.  I sat there and read it with tears in my eyes for all she had to go through – needlessly.  Women suffer in silence.  Of course, now she has a happy ending, but she had to go through hell first.  These women who are sharing their stories are so courageous, and each one of them has an overriding, deep desire to help other women.  It is incredible, and I am so humbled to be a part of this moment.  Collectively we will change the world, one woman at a time.

Would you be willing to share your story?  You could publish your name or you could remain anonymous.  If you would be willing to share your story, would you share what your life was like before, what you were feeling and experiencing, and then what your life is like after?  I know you would be helping so many women who would see themselves in your stories.

I truly feel that we are the pioneers that will help to make life better for our children and their children’s’ children. Yesterday the minister concluded his sermon with the following comments. They seem to apply to us. “Help us look to the future so we truly can work together and support each other. May we be a blessing to those around us, to our world, to the future. May the children look back with the deepest gratitude for what we have done for them.”
