The little TUT messages (www.tut.com) I get every morning have a way of snapping me back to reality. Take this morning’s message, for example:
Do you think the main reason people don’t visualize is because it’s too hard or because it’s too easy?
I sense an opportunity here, Rosie.
Got 2 minutes?
The Universe
That pretty well puts things into perspective…and makes me think of Carl Sandburg’s beautiful quote:
“Nothing happens…but first a dream.”
Dreams? What dreams? The past several years I have devoted a lot of thought to dreams – other people’s dreams and mine. Along with that analysis comes the pain of regret, regret that I had not acted upon my dreams sooner in life. And yet, as I study my life and the lives of others, it becomes clearer to see what keeps us all paralyzed.
What keeps you up at night? Long ago I realized that people don’t lay awake at night worrying about their wrinkles. They worry about their finances…how am I going to pay the light bill, the medical bills, send my kids to college, retire? The golden handcuffs keep us trapped. You have probably read the studies demonstrating that more heart attacks occur on Monday mornings than any other time of the week. Why is that? Our hearts ache when we are not living our passion. I clearly remember completely ruining all my Sunday afternoons for years. All I could think about was that I had to go back to “work” on Monday morning.
Maybe you’re like I was – you think there is no way out. Oh, to know then what I know now. As Esther and Jerry Hicks teach us, “You can be, do, and have anything you want.” The first step is to believe. Get into the feeling state of your dreams, as if they have already manifested. The second is to get quiet and ask your inner guidance to show you the way.
The very best advice that I can give is the advice I ignored all through the years. I was always “too busy.” My suggestion is to meditate daily, even if for only 5 or 10 minutes. Now I realize I don’t have time not to. Pay attention to the messages that come, and they will come. Pay attention to your thoughts…chase away the “stinkin’ thinkin’” that Zig Ziglar cautions us about.
Create a “vision board.” Cut out pictures and paste your dreams on your board, or go to a website such as www.catalogofdreams.com and create one online. Then do as TUT says and spend a couple minutes every day visualizing your dream. See it, feel it, sense it. Pretend that it is already here and then express gratitude for having received it. State an daily affirmation in the present tense and one that bypasses the egoic mind, such as the one taught by Asara Lovejoy in her book The One Command: “I don’t know how (fill your dream in the blank). I only know that it is now, and I am fulfilled.”
Now pay attention to the “coincidences” that start showing up in your life. For example, once I began the fervent plea to be able to work from home, a “coincidence” arrived and network marketing chose me to give me that opportunity. I initially didn’t pay attention to the network marketing aspect and had no idea there was a business opportunity associated with the products that were changing my life. All I could think about was that I didn’t want other women to go through what I went through. I wanted to scream to the world, “NO! You do NOT need to experience those symptoms!”
This “coincidence” in learning about natural hormone balancing led me to conduct research and hundreds of wellness classes. Those classes ultimately led me to the writing of my book, The Awakened Body, A Woman’s Guide to Feeling Biologically Vibrant…Naturally.”
What “coincidences” are showing up in your life? Pay attention. I bet they are there. Think of life as an adventure. What event today will happen “out of the blue?” Where will it lead you?
The key is to identify what is right for you. What are your dreams? What makes your heart sing? Once I figured out how network marketing worked, I was convinced that I held the keys to the lock to everyone’s time and financial freedom. Then one day I sat back and intently studied the face of a young, vivacious dance instructor who would be fabulous in my business. I watched how she radiantly oozed joy as she patiently instructed her class of tiny dancers. The children were exuberant, though they could scarcely follow even one of her instructions. Together, instructor and children would hug and laugh, truly enjoying their moments together. It finally occurred to me: that instructor is exactly where she needs to be.
Where do you want to be? Perhaps you are already living your dreams. If not, perhaps you’ve always wanted to open and own your own cookie store, write a children’s book, work with dolphins. Know that an awakened life is waiting for you. I encourage you to take some quiet time to think and dream your future into being. Take some quiet time to conduct your own dream workshop. Draw it out, write it out, and create it into being. Got 2 minutes?
