Every morning I read a daily affirmation from www.tut.com. This morning’s affirmation hit me right in the face. It perfectly described what came to fruition yesterday:
“Dreams are like that, Rosie… Most of the time you don’t even know how close you are, until after they’ve come true.
Sometimes, even, the very day before they come true, it still feels like they’re a million miles away. Something to remember.
Tallyho,
The Universe”
How true, how true…the very day before they come true, it still feels like they’re a million miles away. And then in an instant, they come true!
These economic times have been so very hard for those who have lost jobs and who are searching, searching. It is so, so easy to fall into despair. I have someone whom I am very close to who has been out of work since late October. There was one particular company that he dreamed of working for, but after 4 months it seemed futile. He has been on multiple other interviews. He would get so close, but in the end the opportunity always fell through for various reasons.
We have had countless conversations these past 4 months, always with the direction of maintaining faith, keeping his spirits and energy high, looking for the blessing in the experience, etc., etc. It is difficult to do that when the bills keep coming in like clockwork every month, and you have borrowed money to pay for the previous 4 months of bills.
Yesterday morning we had another one of these discussions. He was so full of deep despair. He had just been notified that he was not selected for a 2nd interview at some company he had interviewed with last week. On Monday he had finally broken through to have an interview at the company he dreamed of working for. He was so excited after the interview because he felt it went very well, and he could feel himself working for this company. The interviewers promised they would call yet that day or the following morning to let him know if he was selected. No call came. The day passed, and yet another.
So, here we were in this conversation. We reviewed all the reasons why they might not yet have called. Soon the despair began to turn to hope and then belief. We finished the conversation with me sharing the 5 steps taught by Michael Beckwith in his CD “The Life Visioning Process.” 1) Get into a state of unconditional love – you are worthy, you are loved, you are deserving. 2) Develop reverent listening – pay attention to messages that are being sent to you. They may come by way of vision, a feeling, a song, a billboard sign. 3) Ask “How does God want to present God as my life?” 4) “How must I change to obtain what I am asking for?” 5) Express appreciation and gratitude. We both were in a much better place after our conversation.
5 ½ hours later the call came. Not only did he receive the offer, they also offered him the top of scale for the position he was applying for. In an instant the dream broke through.
What a great lesson for us. All dreams work that way…in an instant everything can change. We just don’t know how close we are. All it takes is an unabiding faith, hope, and belief and that dream will come true!
