Today I had 5 ½ hours of alone time on my commute home from Chicago. I had a wonderful time yesterday with my two grown sons. We talked late into the night, as if we could prevent the night from ending. The drive back home was so melancholy. It always is for me. I don’t do well with endings. Knowing how I am, I packed my car with soul-searching CDs to occupy my mind.
It didn’t take too long for Esther Hicks to remind me to “First be happy.” It is all about the “joyful becoming…let feeling good be your first priority.”
Jason had to catch a flight for his next work assignment, so we both were on our way very early. As I left the city limits, I kept stealing a peak at the gorgeous sunrise. I had just read in my Angel Medicine book something that I have come to intuitively know this past year…take in as many sunrises and sunsets as you possibly can…with the naked eye, and not filtered through glass. I found myself rolling down my window despite the frigid temperature. There is something magical about a sunrise. Just then I noticed that the sun was casting its warm glow onto the frozen fields, transforming each tree branch, each blade of grass into a shimmering crystal fairyland. For hours I watched the magical sparkles all around me.
Meanwhile, Esther kept talking to me about practicing good-feeling thoughts…till they become habitual. She went on to say that “Joy, appreciation, love, and health are all synonymous. Physical well-being is how you transcribe everything in this world…through the lens of how you are feeling.”
It became very clear that our first priority is to our own good health. “There’s no subject we think more about than our body.” Appearance, stamina, wellness are so important to us. How we feel impacts everything else in our lives, so looking out for our own well being must become our first priority.
Esther recommends that we “positively focus…15 minutes a day…undivided attention.” Ahh, let this be the magic to shimmer up our lives…to first be happy.
